I spent 17 years in K-12 education serving as a science teacher, assistant principal, and principal of both a middle and high school in Alabama. I am in my third year as Assistant Clinical Professor at Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama where I serve as Program Coordinator for our Master’s, Graduate Certificate, and Education Specialist programs in Educational Leadership. I received my doctorate in 2015 and my dissertation was titled “Student Perspectives of Supporting and Hindering Factors in School Integration and the Role of Racial Identity in the Process” which focused on supporting and hindering factors during the Freedom of Choice initiative in an Alabama school district along with racial identity development during this time.
