Michael I. Cohen is assistant professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Northern Colorado. He has served as a high school English teacher and as an administrator in school- and district-level positions in New Jersey and Colorado. Most recently, prior to joining the faculty at the University of Northern Colorado, Michael was manager of assessment support in the district offices of the Denver Public Schools (DPS). At DPS, Michael led the development and implementation of Student Learning Objectives (SLOs), which serve as a key component of instructional reforms and the student growth portion of educator evaluation. His research interests include accountability, market-based educational reforms, and critical approaches to policy studies.
