Profile: Stephen Louis Jacobson
I received my PhD from Cornell University in 1986 and started my academic career the same year at the University at Buffalo, where I've been ever since. My research interests have included teacher compensation, the reform of school leadership preparation and practice, and effective principal leadership in challenging schools. I've had the pleasure of giving invited presentations throughout the U.S., as well as in Australia, Austria, Barbados, Canada, China, Cyprus, England, Germany, Israel, Mali, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, South Africa and Sweden. I am a past President of the University Council for Educational Administration and of the American Education Finance Association (now known as the Association for Educational Finance and Policy). I am currectly UCEA's Associate Director for International Initiatives. In addition, I'm the lead editor of the Taylor and Francis journal, Leadership and Policy in Schools, as well as co-editor of the Springer book series, Research in Education: Implications for Policy and Practice.
