Biographical Information

Dr. Cristóbal Rodríguez received his Ph.D. at The University of Texas at Austin in education research, evaluation, and policy analysis with a social and cultural historical focus. As more education policy is being developed with consideration to the P-20 education pipeline, the work in preparing school leaders in navigating policy becomes even more critical in improving access for diverse populations throughout the pipeline. Therefore, Dr. Rodríguez' research focus centers around concentrated diverse demographics and explores the variation of policy development, implementation, and results and their influence on access throughout the educational pipeline. Dr. Rodríguez's recent work has been published in the Journal of Latinos and EducationHarvard Journal of African American Policy, and most recently in the Journal of Hispanic Higher Education on the George I. Sanchez Legacy of Chicana/o Student and Policy Advocacy: Utilizing Data for Social Change and a chapter in the book Linguistic Minority Immigrants Go to College: Preparation, Access, and Persistence (Kanno, Y & Harklau, L., Eds.). From 2010-2013, Dr. Rodríguez received the honor of being nationally appointed as the University Council for Educational Administration Associate Director of Graduate Student Development in overseeing the Barbara L. Jackson Scholars program dedicated to racially diversifying the professoriate, and has been recognized by the American Association for Hispanics in Higher Education as a Faculty Fellow in 2010.
