Profile: Carol A. Mullen

Carol A. Mullen, PhD, is Professor of Educational Leadership at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia. She has served as Director of the School of Education and Associate Dean for Professional Education of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. She has taught in research tier universities since 1995 in the United States, and for years in community colleges in Canada. She is a twice-awarded U.S. Fulbright Scholar, having successfully conducted research projects in China and Canada. Her research interests include social justice in educational leadership contexts, collaborative mentoring theory and practice, and international education. Her scholarly roots are in narrative inquiry and curricular studies. Her authorships encompass over 180 refereed journal articles and book chapters, 18 special issues of journals, and 22 books. Recent books include Creativity Under Duress in Education? (2019, Springer, edited), Creativity and Education in China (2017, Routledge), and Education Policy Perils (2016, Routledge, coedited). She is currently serving as UCEA EC member and has served as UCEA PSR for two UCEA Full Member research institutions (2011-2013; 2014-2017).
