Biographical Information

Dr. Joel Leader is a clinical assistant professor and co-coordinator of the accelerated online M.Ed. and principal certification programs. He holds degrees from the University of North Texas (Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and M.Ed. in Secondary Education) and the University of Kansas (B.S. in Secondary Education). Dr. Leader has 15 years of experience in the PK-12 setting as a classroom teacher, campus administrator, and in district leadership positions. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Texas at Arlington, he served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Teacher Education & Administration at The University of North Texas. Dr. Leader’s research focuses on how school and district leaders collaborate with their stakeholders to design an accountability system that meets the needs, values, and goals the community has for their public schools. His other research interests include state and federal educational policy, public school law, equity-minded school reform, and school-stakeholder relations.
