Dear UCEA,
Happy Fall! We here at HQ hope your semesters are going well. Like many of you, we kept an eye on the impact of Hurricanes Helene and Milton on UCEA member institutions. I am happy to say that our colleagues are well but are in the midst of a slow recovery. We will continue to reach out and see if there is anything we can do to support them.
In important UCEA news, the Educational Administration Quarterly (EAQ) is searching for a new host with the goal of transitioning during the 2025 summer. You will find the link to the full RFP below. If you are a member of UCEA with interest in hosting EAQ, please submit a letter of intent as soon as possible.
UCEA is celebrating its 70th year. In that time we have grown tremendously in both scope and size. Our second season of our In the Lead with UCEA podcast we began exploring how the story of UCEA is also the story of the field - and vice versa. We will continue that exploration in a special Town Hall during Convention and I hope you will join us there.
Speaking of Convention, we are just over a month away from being in Los Angeles! In this Spotlight you will find all the Convention information you need, as well policy and research updates, the Graduate Student Council, and news from friends of UCEA. I hope you enjoy all the news from UCEA!

AI has quickly become a hot topic within K-12 schools. Educators are meeting the moment with both caution and enthusiasm. A new report from the Center for Reinventing Public Education (CRPE) finds that preparation for educators around AI is lagging behind technological advances. CRPE urges policymakers and education advocates to support strategic implementation of AI. Organizations like Digital Promise are leading the way in helping educators leverage AI in strategic, innovative ways.

UCEA proudly hosts three of the leading journals in educational leadership and administration. Founded in 1965, Educational Administration Quarterly continues to shape the field in meaningful and substantive ways through the innovative, diverse, and increasingly global voices published there. Since 1998 the Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership has provided the field with real-life problems in PK-12 for faculty and students to learn from together. In 2006 the Journal of Research on Leadership Education focuses clearly on strengthening leadership preparation through research into teaching, learning, and impact on leader practice.
